About WAKSA

WAKSA has been working for its members since 2002. Our major role is to promote safe kiting and to defend your right to kite everywhere along the coast where it can be considered appropriate. Given that we are just one of many beach user groups - all of whom have the right to safe and free access to our beaches - this is a constant focus and major task of the WAKSA Committee.

WAKSA is the West Australian affiliate of the Australian Kite Surfing Association (AKSA). Membership of WAKSA/AKSA not only shows support and solidarity with other kiters but provides you with access to a $10M public liability insurance policy. Like all insurance, it's great to know you have that assistance in a time of need, but PL insurance is also a major benefit for us when negotiating your beach access rights. PL insurance is also mandatory for any kiter wanting to participate in any kiting event organised by AKSA or any of the state based kite surfing associations in Australia.

WAKSA also organises social kiting events and competitions for members from all areas of metropolitan and regional WA. Examples of our social events include the annual 'Kitestock' festival; social down winders during the season and the annual 'Redkite' fund raiser. WAKSA is also responsible for organising state title competitions and the associated seeding of competitors in the various kiting disciplines.
