Sunday 18th December 2011 saw the running of the second Red Bull Lighthouse to Leighton Kite Race.

Just over one hundred kiters took to the waters off Rottnest for the 2.30pm race but with light winds and a few competitors having gear problems at the start, not everyone made it all the way across Gage Roads.

Here are the official results.

Saturday 12th November saw over 50 competitors and just as many family, friends and supporters make the trek  to Wedge Island for the 2011 State Wave Titles.

In what proved to be variable and light winds competitors battled it out in an exhausting series of heats for five and half hours. As an indication of the growth in support and popularity in wave riding, for the first time a number of women kiters also competed on Saturday.

Looking to pick up a massive new TV for home? Once again, it's time to shake the can and raise funds for Redkite, supporting children and young people through the cancer journey.

In order to put yourself in the running for a brand new 55' Samsung LCD 'smart tv' WAKSA members are encouraged to register for the event through the Every Day Hero site and start raising money. The kiter who raises the most funds by mid-day Sunday 27th November will win this sensational TV. WAKSA greatly appreciates the asisstance The Good Guys Osborne Park has provided with this prize.

For the first time in Perth, KB4Girls is conducting a 2 day residential, no-cost, water and land-based kiteboarding instructional clinic for local women kiteboarders in Safety Bay over the weekend 16-18th December 2011. This event is being organised and run by volunteers from the international and local kiteboarding community, brought together by Kristin Boese’s KB4girls Foundation.

The WA Wave Riding State Titles at Wedge Island are postponed to the weekend commencing November 12th. Unfortunately the forecast for the 5th doesn't look good with not much chance of wind and no swell.

Registrations will remain open until November 10th.

The WA Kite Surfing Wave Riding State Titles are open for registration to all members. This event is taking place at Wedge Island in early November and is expected to attract the best wave kite surfers in Western Australia.

Check out full details of the event here. Registration is $25 and must be completed prior to the day. Only WAKSA or AKSA members may take part in the event, so if your membership isn't current, please renew it asap.

With October 1 as the notional start of the season, many members will have already received, or will soon receive a membership renewal email from AKSA.

At this stage of the year we have not been advised of, and do not expect any increase in membership fees for 2011/12. It goes without saying we will inform members asap if this should change.
