Saturday 12th November saw over 50 competitors and just as many family, friends and supporters make the trek to Wedge Island for the 2011 State Wave Titles.
In what proved to be variable and light winds competitors battled it out in an exhausting series of heats for five and half hours. As an indication of the growth in support and popularity in wave riding, for the first time a number of women kiters also competed on Saturday.

Unfortunately the wind Gods were not on our side, with the exception of about 20 minutes, when everyone got excited, pumped up and enjoyed a glorious ten minutes kiting before the wind disappeared for the remainder of the afternoon!

For the first time in Perth, KB4Girls is conducting a 2 day residential, no-cost, water and land-based kiteboarding instructional clinic for local women kiteboarders in Safety Bay over the weekend 16-18th December 2011. This event is being organised and run by volunteers from the international and local kiteboarding community, brought together by Kristin Boese’s KB4girls Foundation.
